The Solar Drive for Cycles
This unit uses the same drive gear as the "Power Drive" and uses a similar frame. We have fitted the same electric motor and all you have to do is press a button and climb those hills with ease. The frame design avoids motor slip and the need for continual re-alignment. We provide the user with the same "on-the-road" package providing all the component parts, pre-assembled wherever possible. The "Solar Drive" incorporates an integrated 10 Watt photo-voltaic. The battery powering the motor is trickle charged by this solar panel which traps the sun's light energy and stores it for those times when pedal power may be just too much like hard work! For heavier use, poor light conditions and certain locations such as indoor warehousing an optional mains battery charger is also available for your convenience.
Photo-voltaics
A 10 Watt photo-voltaic panel will provide approximately 500mA (half an Amp) in clear sky, sunlight conditions. As light conditions change throughout the day the energy provided by these panels varies accordingly. Bright sunlight provides most energy, cloudy days less.
Contrary to popular opinion the sun does shine in the UK. Over a year we average about 4 sunlight hours per day!
